I now have a new Nikon D60, 2x teleconverter, 3x teleconverter and so help me its not that easy to get it all sorted out at my age. I dont do manuals but I think I will have to with this, can I set the F stop? can I heck, the manual says you press this, turn that, and Bobs your uncle, well.... he is and a brother too but I digress. I have added the above with a 400mm lens therefore giving something like 2.4m lens which looks great through the viewfinder, but I need to open the f stops up quite a few notches to get the pix, Not Happening! I had a 738 heading towards DCS at 360 and it looked great on the one of the few days we had sun up here I thought this is it... trail, sun in the SSE position - nothing! zip.... Still working on it so will see, in the meantime have a pic of a Norwegian Air Force Lynx 228 arriving at Blackpool on Sunday, I was happy with that - if I would have stayed a bit I would have seen a 738 belonging to Travel service...

heyho!

Its a little bit sunny

A correction to my last blog - it wasnt a Pilatus but a Beech 35, its was a simple mistake seeing that I was moving, and it was windy. A record gust was recorded at Blackpool yesterday - It must have been the one that sent my glasses flying!.

.... and a correction to both the above entries - it was a Socata TBM700 N324JS looked very nice too - what I saw of it......

So on to Monday. Its a bit brighter and I'm back at work, luckily I can have my airband radio on and look out at Warton and Blackpool flightpaths. I have them on my scanner but the chatter is mainly Manchester and not a bit enthralling, usual stuff going in...  I wish I had my SBS unit here, then that would be fun

I suppose I'd better get on with some work so I'll bail out here!

Sunday - Oh Boy!

I was hopeful of a good day for the grand prix - overcast and wind speeds of up to 60mph cancelled what should have been a good days entertainment. I went down to the airport to see what was in 1 tucano, 2 hawks over the far side a Bonanza and a Pilatus - I think, the latter two having American registrations but as we were moving in the car I didn't make a note, but no doubt it will be published by Daniel Raistrick at the blackpoolspotters site.

So in lieu of a collection of aircraft from today - here we are with a few from the past..

It doesn't seem like 35 years since I visited Bae Woodford, or as it was then Avro. I saw the production line of HS748's in various liveries including Columbian Air Force, Zambian A/W to name but two. So I suppose I have an afinity with the 748, and use it as my favorite A/C on Flight Simulator..

Blackpool from FS9.... I just thought I'd add this as one was flying around here giving pleasure flights during the week....

I'll be back later... in the meantime....

Its not so sunny in Blackpool

My first blog entry and I'm afraid to say that I wont be entering good news. This week is veterans week in Blackpool and there is a week of celebrations in honour of our ex-servicemen, culminating in a flying spectacular from the RAF and The Battle of Britain Flight, Sadly the weather is overcast at 1200ft and the skydivers were supposed to jump from 12,000 the flying has been cancelled. Next week I hope to bring photos of the Grand Prix held here, details of which are pretty sketchy at the moment, but if your interested in what goes on at our local airport here can I direct you to Blackpool spotters.

I hope to get the pictures or videos up onto the site as soon as possible after the shows, and the quality will get better on the photos the nearer I get to getting my DSLR later this year. I have promised myself a good value one before I go to New Zealand in February. I already know I will be flying on the A380 that Emirates
will have on that run.. Oh for information, the 1st A380 scheduled service to New York will be with Emirates on 1st August - see website for further info.

Recently I was in Faro on holiday, and I noticed today that an update on Faro movements shows OK-TVH as a visitor - I would like to know were we on the first visit flight of this new 738?

Check out some of my photos I will be putting on here, I have some on Airliners Net
and its sister site...
I will return later....

Thanks for reading
